LAWS OF MARYLAND.— 1831.

 

was authorized to take and receive prior to the act of eighteen
hundred and sixteen, chapter two hundred and forty-seven.

To aid
deputies if,
required.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
attorney-general, if required by the governor and council, to aid
any deputy which he may have appointed, in prosecuting any
suit or action brought by the slate in any county court, or
Baltimore city court ; and it shall and may be lawful for the
governor and council, to allow to the attorney-generator to any
deputy, such reasonable fee or reward for prosecuting any suit
or action to which the state may be a party, or interested
therein, as they may think right.

Removal.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the attorney-general ap-
pointed and commissioned in virtue of this act, shall hold his
commission during good behaviour, but may be removed by
the governor upon the address of the general assembly of Mary-
land.

Repeal.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the act passed at December
session eighteen hundred and seventeen,* entitled, an act pro-
viding for the appointment of an attorney-general, and of district
attorneys in the several judicial districts of this state, and for
Baltimore city court, and the supplement thereto, passed at

t Ch.37.

December session eighteen hundred and nineteen, t be, and the
same are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 135.
A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, entitled, an Act for the relief of the Sheriffs
and Collectors in the several Counties in this State.
See 1820, th. 48, ante page 727.

Judges may
exercise
powers.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, any judge of the
several county courts, shall have and exercise during the recess
of the said courts, all and every power and authority vested in
the judges of the county courts by the act to which this is a
supplement..

Repeal.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any thing in the act to which
this is a supplement, inconsistent with or repugnant to the pro-
visions of this act, shall be and the same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 137.

AN ACT to continue in force the acts of assembly which would expire
with the present session.

Expiring
acts
continued.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
all such acts and parts of such acts of assembly as would expire
with the present session of assembly, be, and the same are
hereby continued until the first day of November next, and to
the end of the next session of assembly which shall happen
thereafter.
