their office, than are hereafter limited and allowed by this act.
For serving state warrant, and return, 33 1/3 cents. For serving
warrant, and return, 33 1/3 cts. For serving summons, and
return, 16 cts. For scieri facias, ,and return, 33 1/3 cts. For
inflicting stripes agreeably to the judgment of a justice of the
peace, 50 cts. For delivering a person committed over to the
jailor, 50 cts. For dispersing tumultuous meetings of negroes,
per year, such sum as the levy court may think proper, not
exceeding $8 00. For taking up runaways, each runaway,
$6 00. For levying fieri facias, and return, 12 1/2 cts. For
serving execution on body, and return, 12 1/2 cts. For sum-
moning jury of inquest, for each person summoned 12j cts.
For serving attachment for contempt, 50 cts. For levying
distress for rent to be paid by' the party distraining, unless
in cases where the property had been removed from the pre-
mises, $1 25. For summoning and swearing appraisers on
distress for rent, 33 1/3 cts.
SEC. 2. Incorporated in 1821, ch. 162.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if any constable shall take
or receive, either directly or indirectly, any greater fee or reward
than what is allowed by this act for such services, he shall
forfeit the sum of one hundred dollars for every such offence,
one-half to go to the school funds of the several counties of
this state, and the other half to the informer thereof, to be
recovered in the county court of the county where the offence
shall be committed, or the city court of Baltimore, if in the
city of Baltimore, by bill of indictment.

CHAPTER 166.

AN ACT to continue in force the Acts of Assembly which would expire
with the present session.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
all such acts, and parts of such acts of assembly, as would
expire with the present session of assembly, be and the same
are hereby continued until the twentieth day of November next,
and to the end of the next session of assembly which shall
happen thereafter.

CHAPTER 172.

A further additional SUPPLEMENTARY ACT to the Act, entitled, an Act for
Quieting Possessions, Enrolling Conveyances, and Securing the Estates
of Purchasers.
