SAINT MARY'S COUNTY.

AN ACT to change the time for the appointment of Overseer of the Poor
in Saint Mary's County.— 1829, ch. 151.

 

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly qf Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the trustees of the
poor for St. Mary's county, shall meet at the poor's-house in
said county, pn some convenient day during the month of July
in each and every year, for the purpose of effecting an overseer
for the next year, who shall enter upon the discharge of his
duties on the first day of January next ensuing his appoint-
ment.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That if the said situation of over-
seer shall at any time become vacant, said trustees shall hold
a meeting as soon thereafter as convenient and appoint some

nothing in this act shall be so construed as to interfere with
any right which said trustees may now possess to remove said
overseer at their discretion, and to appoint another in his place.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts inconsistent with the
provisions of this act, be, and the same are hereby repealed.

AN ACT to repeal an Act, passed at December session, eighteen hundred
and thirty-one, entitled, a further Supplement to the act, entitled, an Act
for marking and bounding land, passed at November session, seventeen
hundred and eighty-six, as relates to Saint Mary's County. — 1839,
ch. 160.

 

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the act passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
thirty-one, entitled, a further supplement to the act, entitled,
an act for marking and bounding land, passed at November
session, seventeen hundred and eighty-six, as relates to Saint
Mary's county, be, and the same is hereby repealed.

AN ACT Supplementary to nn Act, passed December session, eighteen
hundred and thirty-eight, chapter three hundred and sixty-two, entitled,
an Act to divide Saint Mary's County into School Districts, and to erect
School houses therein — 1839, ch. 192.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That in the event of the trustees of any school district or dis-
tricts in Saint Mary's county, failing to build a school-house or
houses, according to the provisions of the act to which this is
a supplement, then it shall be the duty of said trustees, until
such time as they shall have complied with the provisions of
the aforesaid act, to contract for the education of the poor chil-
dren in their respective school district or districts, with any
convenient private teacher, upon such terms as indigent chil-
dren have heretofore been educated; or if in their judgment it
