said crier's annual salary, and such other sum as the messen-
ger may appear to be entitled to by the certificate of the clerk
of Prince George's county court.

AN ACT for the despatch of business in Prince George's County Court.
1839, ch. 73.

Sheriff to
summon
seventy-
three per-
sons to
serve as
grand and
petit jurors.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, it shall be the duty of
the sheriff of Prince George's county, at each and every term
of said court, to summon seventy-three qualified persons to
attend said court as jurors ; and it shall be the duty of said
court on the first day of the meeting thereof, to cause a panel
of grand jurors to be drawn in the usual manner ; and then in
like manner to divide the remaining persons into two panels
of petit jurors, one class of whom shall be retained for the
first week of said court, and the other discharged until the
second week thereof. And the court may take such order for
the alternate attendance of the said panels during the sessions
of said court as to them may seem necessary to the despatch of
business.

AM ACT to change the investment of the School Fund of Prince George's
County .—1836, ch.262.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the justices of the orphans court of Prince George's county,
be, and they are hereby authorized and required, if they shall
deem it expedient, to exchange the bank stock now held for
the use of Prince George's county, and applicable to the pur-
poses of education, for six per cent, stock of the state of Mary-
land, or to sell the said bank stock, and re-invest the same in
state stock as aforesaid.

 

QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY.
AN ACT relating to the compensation payable by Officers to the Sheriff
of Queen Anne's County, for the collection of Officers' Fees. — 1839
ch. 111.

per cent,
for collect-
ing officers'
fees.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, it shall and may be law-
ful for the sheriff of Queen Anne's county, to charge and re-
ceive from all officers who may choose to require of the sheriff
to collect for them any officers' fees, a commission of twelve
and an half per cent, on the amount of fees that may be so col-
lected instead of the commission heretofore allowed in such
cases.
