Clerk of

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That upon the appointment of a
clerk to the commissioners as aforesaid, the clerk of the levy
court of Charles county shall, on demand of the said clerk to
the said commissioners, by order of the said commissioners,
forthwith deliver over to the said clerk of the commissioners,
all the books, accounts, papers and documents belonging, or in
any manner appertaining to the levy court of said county.

Book case
to be pro-
vided.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
said clerk to the commissioners, to provide and place in the
court-house of said county a book-case, in which shall be
safely kept all the books, levies and papers relating to said
office; and the commissioners of said county shall levy on the
assessable property of said county a sum of money not exceed-
ing twenty-five dollars, to defray the expense thereof.

inspection.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That upon application to the
said clerk to the commissioners, the said clerk shall exhibit
the said books, levies and papers to the inspection of any per-
son or persons applying to view the same, and make copies or
extracts thereof without any charge therefor.

Levy fur
clerk's
salary.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of said
county shall levy annually on the assessable property of said
county, for the use of said clerk, a sum of money not exceed-
ing two hundred and fifty dollars, in full compensation for the
services required of him, and to be performed under this act.

Commis-
sioners' per
diem.
|
SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That each of the said commis-
sioners shall be entitled to receive two dollars and fifty cents
per day for every day he shall necessarily attend to the duties
of his office.

Levy to be
cloved
every year.
|
SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
shall and may at any time during each and every year, make,
complete and close their levy, any law to the contrary notwith-
standing; and that all suits at law and equity which may be
pending at the time of the passage of this act, by and against
the justices of the levy court of said county, shall be carried on
in like manner and have the same legal effect, either in favour
or against the commissioners, provided for by this act, us if
such suit or suits had been instituted by or against the said
commissioners.

Repeal.
|
SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That so much of any act of
assembly as may be contrary to, and inconsistent with the
provisions of this act, be, and the same are hereby repealed.

nure of
office.

SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That this act shall not be so
construed as to affect the tenure of any person who may be in
office under the said levy court on the said first Wednesday of
October.
