WORCESTER COUNTY.

Mode of
levy.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all levies imposed or autho-
rized by this act, shall be levied and imposed in the name of
the commissioners, or their successors, duly appointed under

the provisions of this act, and payable only to their order or
the order of a majority of them.

Sale of the
present
alms-house

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the commissioners aforesaid,
or a majority of them, shall have full power and authority at
any time after having made arrangements for the accommoda-
tion of the poor, as before provided, to sell and dispose of the
present poor-house of said county, and the lot of ground or
parcel of land thereunto attached, and all its appurtenances, at
public auction or otherwise, and on such terms, at their discre-
tion, for the best price which can be obtained, and at a proper
time after the sale is so made and the payment of the purchase
money, to make and execute a good and sufficient deed of bar-
gain and sale to the purchaser or purchasers, his, her or their
heirs and assigns in fee simple.

Proceeds

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the proceeds arising from
the sale of the present poor-house and premises, shall be ap-
plied to the payment of the purchase money of the lands and
premises authorized in virtue of this law to be purchased.

Report of
proceedings

SEC. 8. And be it enacted. That the commissioners aforesaid,
or a majority of them, if as herein before provided, they shall
deem it expedient to carry into effect the provisions of this act,
shall annually return to the levy court of Worcester county, a
full and fair statement of their proceedings, of the amount of
money by them borrowed, and the terms on which the same
was borrowed, the amount by them disbursed, and the items
for which the same was disbursed, and when the lands so pur-
chased, and the buildings erected thereon, shall be in a fit and
proper condition for the reception of the poor, they shall de-
liver the same to the trustees of the poor of the said county,
to be and remain under their management and direction as
herein after provided.

Vacancies.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That in case either of the said
commissioners shall die or resign or refuse to act, the other
commissioners are hereby invested with full power and are
required, at their next meeting thereafter, to supply such
vacancy or vacancies.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the trustees of the poor of
Worcester county aforesaid, and their successors in office, after
the land and premises shall have been delivered to them as
herein before provided, shall have full power, liberty and au-
thority to appoint a physician, and overseer and such other
agents as they may deem necessary, on the said farm, and fix
the compensation for their services and generally to make and
establish such by-laws, orders and rules for the relief, regula-
