ASSESSMENT.
AN ACT for the Re-valuation and Re-assessment of the Real and Personal
Property in Worcester County.— 1831, ch. 30.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the present commissioners of the tax of Worcester county,
be, and they are hereby authorized and required, to meet at
Snowhill, in said county, as soon as may be practicable, after
the passage of this act, and there proceed to appoint one dis-
creet and experienced person in each election district, to re-
value and re-assess the real and personal property in the said
county, agreeably to the provisions of an act passed at Novem-
ber session, eighteen hundred and twelve, entitled, an act for
the valuation of real and personal property in the several coun-
ties of this state.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the said commissioners of
the tax for Worcester county, are hereby authorized, and em-
powered, to carry into full effect and operation, all the provi-
sions of this act, as well as the aforesaid act of eighteen hundred
and twelve, entitled, an act for the valuation of real and per-
sonal property, in the several counties of this state.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the several assessors so
appointed by virtue of this act, shall qualify according to the
provisions of the above act and on viewing the said real and
personal property, shall proceed to value and assess it, accord-
ing to the directions of the commissioners, and make their re-
turn at a time specified by said commissioners, and when so
done, the levy court of said county shall proceed to levy and
allow each and every assessor, a sum which they shall think,

in their judgment, shall be a reasonable compensation : Pro-
vided, it shall not, in any case, exceed one hundred and fifty
dollars.
