QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY.

Books and
papers to be
delivered
over.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said board of commis-
sioners, be and they are hereby authorized to require of the
board of commissioners of the school fund for Queen Anne's
county, existing previous to this act, to deliver to them all
books and papers relating to the business and transaction of said
board, and to pay over to them whatever portion of the school
fund may be in their hands, as well as to transfer to them
whatever funds may have been invested by them ; and that the

treasurer of the western shore be authorized to pay annually
to the board of commissioners created by this act, such sum or
sums, as he has heretofore been required to pay to the commis-
sioners of the school fund, existing prior to the passage of this
act, for the purpose of education in said county.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the present board shall
cease to exist, and expire on the last day of May next.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of acts,
which are inconsistent or repugnant to this act, be and the
same are hereby repealed.

SHERIFFS.

AN ACT to increase the allowance of the Sheriff of Queen Anne's County
for keeping Prisoners in Gaol and dieting them. — 1819., ch. 60.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall and may be lawful for the sheriff of Queen Anne's
county, to ask, demand and receive, for keeping any debtor or
other prisoner in gaol, and dieting him or her, twenty-five
cents per day, in lieu of the sum now allowed, any law to the
contrary notwithstanding.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the sheriff of Queen Anne's
county shall not be entitled to receive more than twenty-five
cents for keeping and dieting any runaway negro or negro
slave committed to the gaol of said county by any citizen of
this state.

AN ACT for the benefit of the Sheriff of dueen Anne's County.— 1836,
ch. 157.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
in lieu of the sum now allowed by law for furnishing victuals
to debtors confined in jail, it shall and may be lawful for the
Sheriff of Queen Anne's county to ask, demand, and receive
the sum of twenty-five cents per day for each and every per-
son that may be confined in the jail of said county for debt, or
who shall be committed under the insolvent laws of this state,
or for want of special bail, the said sum to be paid in the man-
ner now prescribed by law.
