Notice
thereof.

actually required for the production of merchantable raw silk,
and shall give timely notice to the commissioners as aforesaid,
that said sums of money, may at the laying of the next annual

levy, after said notice has been given, be levied for, and when
collected, be paid over to said trustees to be expended by them
for said uses ; Provided however, that the said sum does not
exceed one hundred and twenty dollars.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the silk which may be pro-
duced in pursuance of this act, shall be sold as said trustees
may direct, and the proceeds thereof applied, after paying the
annual expenses which may necessarily be incurred in continu-
ing in force the provisions of this act, in defraying or assisting
to defray the current expenses of said house.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That if, after the foregoing pro-
visions have been carried into effect, the said trustees shall
deem the profits arising from the production of raw silk as afore-
said, are such that it would conduce to the interest and advan-
tage of said house to increase the amount of its production of
this article, they are hereby empowered and required, with the
approbation of the commissioners for Montgomery county, to

apply from time to time so much of the proceeds arising from
the sale of the raw silk produced as aforesaid, as they may
think proper to accomplish said purpose.

ductive.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That if, after carrying into effect
this act according to its true intent and meaning, said trustees
shall find that the same does, and will, if continued in force,
operate injuriously on the general interest of said house, then,

and in that case, this act may, with the consent of the said com-
missioners, become null and void, and the property and effects
which may have accrued by virtue of the same, shall be dis-
posed of for the benefit of said house in such manner as said
trustees may deem proper.

Aw ACT to reduce the allowance of the Sheriff of Montgomery County, for
keeping Prisoners in Gaol, and finding them Victuals, and for other
purposes.— 1829, ch. 103.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall be lawful for
the sheriff of Montgomery county to ask, demand, and receive
for keeping a prisoner in gaol, and finding him in victuals,
twenty-five cents per day, and no more ; to be levied and col-
lected according to law.

Repeal.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That so much of the act of Decem-
ber session, eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter one hun-
dred and seventy-eight, as relates to Montgomery county, be,
and the same is hereby repealed.
