the board of trustees for the election district within which the
said sub-division may be, may draw an order on the treasurer
of the school fund in the manner directed by the original act
to which this is an additional supplement.

 

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That hereafter no child shall be
entered at school by the quarter, but by the week, and no
teacher shall receive pay for any week unless the child shall
be at school some part of the week for which he may charge.
And every teacher shall receive as a compensation for his ser-
vices a sum to be fixed by the trustees for the education of

SEC. 6. And be it enacted. That the provisions of this act
shall extend to Kent county alone.

A SUPPLEMENT to the ACT, entitled, an Act for the distribution of a cer-
tain fund for the purpose of establishing Free Schools in the several
Counties therein named. — 1821, ch. 142.

WHEREAS, by an act, entitled, an act to incorporate a com-
pany to make a turnpike road leading to Cumberland, and for
the extension of the charters of the several banks in the city
of Baltimore, and for other purposes and its supplements, a
fund has been pledged for the establishment of free schools
throughout the state; And whereas, the said act and its several
supplements have directed that the said fund shall be equally
divided among the several counties of this state.

Preamble.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the treasurer of the western shore, be, and he is hereby
authorized and directed to pay to the order of the orphans
court of Kent county, or their authorized agent, whatever may
be due said county, as its proportion of the school fund, as
mentioned in the original act to which this is a supplement.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the duties of the orphans
court under this act, shall be the same as were those of the
commissioners appointed for said county, in the said original

act

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That any thing in the said ori-
ginal act or the supplements thereto, which is repugnant to or
inconsistent with the provisions of this act, shall be, and the
same is hereby repealed.
