Executor,
&c neglect-
ing to
report
transfers
liable.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if any executor, adminis-
trator, guardian, or trustee, shall hereafter fail to inform the
commissioners of the tax of the transfer of any property belong-
ing to any deceased person, ward, or estate in trust, of which
he or she may be executor, administrator, guardian, or trustee,
shall be liable for the tax on the same, until the commissioners
of the tax shall be properly notified of such transfer.

CATTLE AND SHEEP.
AN ACT in relation to the driving of Cattle and Sheep through Kent
County.— 1836, ch. 212.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, much trouble and loss has been experienced by
different individuals, citizens of Kent county, for the want of a
law to compel drovers driving cattle and sheep in and through
said county, to have said cattle and sheep marked so as to
enable any individual, upon examining said drove, to take from
said drove or droves any unmarked cattle or sheep that they
may discover in said drove or droves ; therefore,

SEC. 1. Be it enacted , by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the first day of May next, it shall be the
duty of each and every drover or drovers that shall drive any
cattle or sheep in or through Kent county, to have each and
every such cattle or sheep so marked with red paint or tar on
their forehead or back, that said mark may be easily discovered

feit the value of such cattle or sheep as shall or may be found
in his or their drove or droves unmarked, by any individual of
said county, and said individual or individuals is hereby autho-

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the person or persons thus
arresting and taking from such drove or droves, any cattle of
sheep under the provisions of this act, provided that the same
should not be his, her or their own, it shall be his, her or their
duty to advertise said cattle or sheep in some public news-
paper, for not less than three weeks ; And provided, that no
owner shall then appear to claim said cattle or sheep, then and
in that case, such cattle or sheep shall be set up and sold at
