HARFORD COUNTY.
 

REGISTER.
A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, entitled, an Act to compel the Registers of
Wills in the several Counties therein mentioned, to keep each his Office
at the Seat of Justice in the County for which he shall be Register,
passed December session, eighteen hundred and four, chapter thirty-
nine, so far as relates to Harford County. — 1832, ch. 159.

Clause re-
pealed.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
so much of the act to which this is a supplement, as requires
the registers of wills of the counties therein mentioned, to at-
tend two days in every week, at their offices, be and the same
is hereby repealed, so far as relates to Harford County.

ROADS.
AN ACT to straighten and amend the Public Roads in Harford County, and
for other purposes. — 1791, ch. 70.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it appears to this general assembly, by the peti-
tion of the inhabitants of Harford county, that their public
roads are out of repair, and in their present situation require
straightening and amending, and that several other roads are
requisite and necessary, and ought to be laid out in as straight
a direction as the situation of the ground will admit, and that
the expense thereof be hereafter levied on the taxable property
within the said county ;
SEC. 2. Is confined to particular roads.

meet, &c.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the justices of the peace in
the aforesaid county, or any three or more of them, be and
they are hereby authorized and required to meet on the second
Monday in March next, or as soon thereafter as conveniently
may be, at the court-house of said county, and at their levy
court in every year thereafter, and so met, may and shall levy
a sum of money not exceeding the sum of three shillings and
nine-pence, or less than two shillings and six-pence, current
money, on every hundred pounds worth of assessable property
within the said county, to be collected in the same manner, at
the same time, and by the same person, as other county taxes
are collected.

And appoint
overseers,
&c.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That the said justices shall and
they are hereby required, at their aforesaid meeting in March
next, and at their levy court every year thereafter, to nomi-
nate, and by warrant under the hand of the clerk and seal of
the county, appoint fit and proper persons to be overseers of
the public roads in their county, within such divisions and
districts as shall be specified and assigned in the said warrants;
and such overseers, so appointed, shall continue to serve as
such until a new appointment as aforesaid by the said justices
at their levy courts ; and in case of the death, neglect, refusal
to act, or misbehaviour, of any overseer so appointed, the said
