SHERIFF.
AN ACT to increase the allowance to the Sheriff of Frederick County, for
keeping and supporting Prisoners in Jail — 1833, ch. 221.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
it shall and may be lawful, for the sheriff of Frederick county
to ask, demand and receive, for all persons committed to the
jail of said county, and provided with victuals by the said
sheriff, the sum of twenty-five cents per day, for each prisoner,
in lieu of the sum now allowed, to be levied and collected
according to law.

AN ACT to authorize the Sheriff of Frederick County, and the Sheriff of
Baltimore County respectively, in certain cases, to execute writs and
other process, serve subpoenas, and perform other official acts in the
respective portions of Carroll County, which were heretofore included
within their respective bailiwicks — 1836, ch. 252.

Preamble

WHEREAS, doubts are entertained by some, whether since
the confirmation of the act, entitled, an act for the division of
Baltimore and Frederick counties, and for erecting a new one
by the name of Carroll, and to alter and change the constitution
of this state, so far as may be necessary to effect the same, passed
at December session, eighteen hundred and thiity-five, chapter
two bundled and fifty-six, and con fumed at this session of as-
sembly, the late and present sheriffs of Frederick county and
of Baltimore county respectively, can lightfully perform any
official acts whatever within the limits of Carroll county ; and
it being desirable to remove all such doubts ; therefore,

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the late sheriff of Frederick county, in respect of such
part of Carroll county as was parcel of Frederick county prior
to the continuation of said act above recited by its title, and the
late sheriff of Baltimore county, in respect of such part of Car-
roll county as was parcel of Baltimore county prior to the con-
firmation of said act, above recited by its title, shall severally
be authorized and empowered to wind up and close then busi-
ness in the same manner in all respects, and with the same
rights and powers as if the said act had not been confirmed.

Serve writs.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the present sheriff of Fre-
derick county, in respect of such part of Carroll county as was
parcel of Frederick county, and the present sheriff of Balti-
more county, in respect of such part of Carroll county as was
parcel of Baltimore county, shall severally be authorized and
empowered to execute all writs, subpoenas and process what-
ever delivered to them, severally, before the confirmation of
said act, to collect all fees which were placed in their respective
