by this act, or which shall be vested in them by any future act
of assembly, as fully to all intents and purposes as any other
corporate body may or can lawfully do.
By 1838, ch. 263, the county commissioners are to appoint three trustees.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That each trustee appointed by
virtue of this act, before he proceeds to perform any duties as
such, shall, before some judge or justice of the peace take and
subscribe an oath or affirmation, that he will duly and faithfully
execute the duties and trusts, and exercise the powers com-
mitted to and vested in him as trustee for the poor of Baltimore
city and county, according to law, to the best of his ability and
judgment; and the said trustees shall provide a book or books
in which shall be entered the minutes of their proceedings
under this act, and the certificate of each trustee having taken
and subscribed the oath or affirmation aforesaid ; and when the
said trustees or a majority of them, or any four trustees ap-
pointed in virtue of this act, shall have taken and subscribed
the said oath or affirmation, they shall be qualified and compe-
tent to exercise all the powers and perform the duties herein
granted and required.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all the powers, authorities,
rights and privileges which were granted to or vested in the
trustees for the poor of Baltimore county, by an act of assem-
bly, passed at November session, in the year seventeen hun-
dred and seventy-three, entitled, an act for the relief of the
poor within the county of Baltimore, and all lands, houses and
other property, estate and effects acquired by and vested in the
trustees for the poor of Baltimore county aforesaid, as such,
and not since sold or otherwise legally disposed of; and also
all the powers, authorities, rights, duties and privileges vested
in the justices of the levy court of Baltimore county in respect
to the said lands, the poor-house, work-house and poor of Bal-
timore county and afterwards transferred to and vested in or
granted to the trustees of the poor-house of Baltimore county,
and all lands, property, estate and effects, powers, rights, privi-
leges and emoluments now vested in or held by the trustees of
the poor-house of Baltimore county, or to which they are enti-
tled, shall be, and the same are hereby transferred to and
vested in the trustees for the poor of Baltimore city and
county, incorporated by this act; and the said trustees hereby
incorporated shall be entitled to receive all the books, papers,
proceedings, vouchers and documents relating to the poor of
Baltimore county, and to the lands, buildings, estate, propertj
and effects so transferred to and vested in them as aforesaid,
which shall be forthwith delivered to them.
