SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That it may be lawful for said
justices, when called out of their offices on business, not judi-
cial and not relating to criminal procedure, to receive such other
additional compensation for their services as the parties so re-
quiring them, may be disposed to allow for the same, any thing
contained in the original acts and the several supplements
thereto, to the contrary, in any wise, notwithstanding.

the Peace in the City of Baltimore, with limited jurisdiction, passed at
December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-five, chapter one hun-
dred and eighty-nine. — 1834, ch. 289.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
so much of the act to which this is a supplement as limits the
number of justices thereby authorized to be appointed, to four,
be, and the same is hereby repealed ; and that the governor, by
and with the advice and consent 6f the council,, be authorized
to appoint such number of justices of the description and with
the powers mentioned in the said act, as in their opinion shall
be useful and necessary for the public convenience and welfare;
Provided always, that the justices so appointed, shall not be
authorized to take acknowledgments of deeds.

LIEN OF MECHANICS AND OTHERS.
AN ACT relating to the Lien of Mechanics and others, upon Buildings.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That every building erected within the city of Baltimore, shall
bo subject to a lien for the payment of all debts contracted for
work done, or materials furnished for* or about the erection or
construction of the same.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the lien of such debts shall
extend to the ground covered by such building, and to so much
other ground immediately adjacent thereto, and belonging in
like manner to the owner of such building, as may be necessary
for the ordinary and useful purposes of such buildings, the
quantity and boundaries whereof shall be determined as follows.

clerk of Baltimore county court, to procure and keep a book, or
docket, which shall be called the mechanics' lien docket, in
