SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That when the inspector, or his
|

deputy, shall upon examination adjudge and determine any fish

shall furnish them with a branding iron, with the first letter of

receive the sum of two cents for each cask in addition to the
|
|
other fees that are hereafter by this law allowed.

|
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That before the said inspector,
|

or his deputy, shall proceed to act as such, they shall give
|

bond, with two sufficient securities, to the state of Maryland, in
|
|
the penal sum of two thousand dollars, for the faithful discharge
|
|
of their duties, which said bond shall be lodged with the clerk
|
|
of Baltimore county; and they shall also take an oath, or affir-
|
|
mation, faithfully, and without favour, affection, partiality or
|
|
prejudice, to perform their duties as prescribed by law; and
|
|
any person or persons conceiving himself, herself or themselves
|
|
aggrieved by the conduct of either the said inspector, or his
|
|
deputy, may put the same in suit, in the name of the state,
|
|
endorsed for their use, and upon trial such judgment shall be
|
|
had as the justice and merits of the case may require.
|
|
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That if any person or persons
|

shall think himself, herself or themselves aggrieved by the

judgment of the said inspector, or his deputy, he, she or they,

aggrieved

may at their option, sue their bond as aforesaid, or may apply
|
may appeal
to mayor,

to the mayor of the city of Baltimore, who shall thereupon issue
|

his warrant, directed to three disinterested persons, well skilled
|
|
iu the goodness, quality, and well curing of sailed fish, to re-
|
|
view and examine the same, which said three persons, after
|
|
having taken an oath of office as reviewers, shall carefully view
|
|
and examine the same, and if they, or any two of them, shall
|
|
declare the same to be sound or merchantable, then and in such
|
|
case the said inspector shall erase the broad arrow, and put such
|
|
brand on the cask containing said fish, as they, or any two of
|
|
them, may adjudge and determine ; and the corporation shall
|
|
be allowed six cents per barrel for storage, if stored; and if
|
|
upon an appeal and review as aforesaid, the judgment of the
|
|
inspector shall be confirmed, the person appealing shall pay the
|
|
expense of such storage, and shall also pay the same if an
|
|
appeal shall not be prosecuted.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That no pickled fish shall be ex-
|
