BALTIMORE CITY.

 

Baltimore; and the mayor and city council, through their col-

 

lector duly appointed, shall have the same power and authority

 

for collecting the several taxes which they may from time to

 

time levy on the real and personal property within said city, as

 

is now exercised within the several counties of this state.

SEO 8. And be it enacted, That all Jaws inconsistent with,

 

or repugnant to the provisions of this law, be and the same are

 

hereby repealed.

AN ACT relating to the Jurisdiction and Powers now vested in Justices of

 

the Peace, for the City of Baltimore —1835, ch 366

Executive

SEC. I. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,

to appoint
15 alder-
men

That on or after the first day of May next, and every year
thereafter, the Governor and council be, and they are hereby

 

directed, in place of the justices of the peace now authorized to

 

be appointed for the city of Baltimore, to appoint and commis-

 

sion fifteen persons, residents of said city for at least two years

 

immediately preceding their appointment, to be styled aldermen

for the city of Baltimore, who shall have all the jurisdiction,

 

and powers and authority, and perform all the duties belonging

 

or assigned to justices of the peace for said city; Provided

 

however, that this act shall not be construed to repeal, or in any
