COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.

 

AN ACT to provide for electing Commissioners for Allegany County, and

 

prescribing their Powers and Duties. — 1829, ch. 25.

 

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That the persons qualified to vote for delegates to the general

the election for delegates to the next general assembly, and at

 

the same time in every two years thereafter, vote by ballot for

 

one person, a resident of the first election district; one person,

 

a resident of the second election district; one person, a resident

 

of the third election district; one person, a resident of the

 

fourth election district; one person, a resident of the fifth elec-

 

tion district ; two persons, residents of the sixth election dis-

 

trict ; one person, a resident of the seventh election district;

 

one person, a resident of the eighth election district; and one

 

person, a resident of the ninth election district, having the same

 

qualifications as are or shall be required for delegates as afore-

 

said, to be commissioners for Allegany county ; and the judges

 

of elections for each several election [districts] in said county,

 

or a majority of them, shall certify, under their hands, and re-

 

turn, in a form and manner similar to their certificates and

 

return of the election of delegates as aforesaid, the number of

 

votes given in their said respective districts, for a commissioner

 

or commissioners as aforesaid ; and the judges of election, from

 

the several election districts in said county, when met at the

 

court house of said county, to ascertain and certify the election

 

of delegates as aforesaid, shall ascertain the number of votes

 

given as aforesaid, for commissioners as aforesaid, in the said

 

election districts respectively, and by a certificate to be filed in

 

the office of the clerk of the county court of said county, and
