SEC. 29. And be it enacted. That if any militia man shall :

paid over by the sheriff of the proper county, as other fines ate

SEC. 30. And be it enacted, That all resignations of commis-
sioned officers shall be made through the adjutant-general, and
at least sixty days prior to the regular days appointed in this
act for the inspection, drill, or making any annual enrollment
or draught, of the district militia or uniform corps, to which
such officer belonged, except in cases of removal ; and that
otherwise no officer shall be considered as having resigned,

except those who shall neglect to report themselves as directed
in the fourth section of this act ; and every officer who may
resign, shall immediately notify the commanding officer of his
company, battalion, squadron, regiment or brigade, as the case
may be, of his resignation, that the officer next in rank may
be charged with the duties of the office thereby vacated, until
the same shall be supplied.

SEC. 31. And be it enacted, That each commissioned officer
of the militia of this state, shall take the following oath or affir-
mation, in addition to the oath prescribed by the constitution : —
I, A. B. do swear or affirm, as the case may be, that I will be
true and faithful to the state of Maryland, and that I will dili-
gently and faithfully do and perform the several duties assigned
me as —— in the militia of the state of Maryland, according to
the best of my skill and abilities, so help me God; and a certifi-
