marriage ceremony between such slaves, according to the form
of some one of the churches or religious communities of this
state, and by a minister of such church or religious community

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the governor, by
and with the consent of the council, be and he is hereby autho-
rized and required, to appoint three suitable persons to represent
the state of Maryland, at all future meetings of the stockholders
of any and all joint stock companies, which have been or may
hereafter be incorporated to make roads and canals, and to vote
therein according to the interests of the state, in all the proceed-

sons so appointed, who shall be present at any and every meet-
ing, shall cast the vote of the state in all questions in such
meetings.

sation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the compensation to be
allowed to persons appointed as aforesaid, shall be the same as
is allowed to members of the general assembly, including itine-
rant charges, during the time necessarily occupied in the dis-
charge of their duties.

Repeal

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all and every part of any
act or acts inconsistent with this, be and the same are hereby
repealed.
