RULES of OFFICE.
An additional to the aforegoing illustration of
the duties of a deputy commissary, I have under
this head collected all such instructions, and
rules of office, as were occasionally made by
the several commissaries general, as well, for
the further observance of such deputy commissaries,
as for preventing errors, and amending
defects in their proceedings.

First--They are strictly to comply with the
laws, in making their returns to the prerogative
office, punctually every two months, that
is, from court to court, held by the commissary
general on the second Tuesdays of January,
March, May, July, September, and November:
two thousand pounds of tobacco being
forfeited, by act of assembly, for every failure
thereof; a particular list of every paper so returned,
must be thereto annexed, to be lodged
in the office, for better security.

of all the administrations granted, wills, |
