eral public, 1 from labor, 1 from management and 1 from a junior
college.

Function: To study the needs of vocational education and to make recom-
mendations to the State Board of Education concerning im-
provements in and expansion of vocational education facilities.

Maryland School for Deaf

Established By: Chapter 247, Acts of 1867.

Head: President, Board of Visitors; superintendent of the school ap-
pointed by the Board.

Members: The governor appoints the 30 members of the Board of Visitors.

Term: Indefinite; superintendent serves at the pleasure of the Board.

Employees: 102 employees.

Function: To provide academic and vocational training for deaf and hard-
of-hearing children residing in the State.

Southern Regional Education Board

Established By: Chapter 282, Acts of 1949.

Members: The governor and 4 others appointed by him.

Term: No statutory provision.

Removal: No statutory provision.

Employees: None.

Function: To develop graduate, professional and technical education in the
South without unnecessary duplication.
