EXECUTIVE AND FISCAL CONTROL

The Governor

06.01.00.01

Established By: Constitution of 1867, art. II, §§ 1,3 and 5.

Term: Elected by popular vote for 4 years; may not serve for more than
two consecutive terms.

Removal: Legislature may provide by law for the impeachment of the
governor and in case of conviction or inability may declare what
person should perform the executive duties.

Employees: 30 employees.

Functions: All executive authority is vested in the governor; he is the chief
executive officer of the State and commander-in-chief of its
military forces.

Board of Public Works

06.03.00.01

Established By: Md. Const., art. XII.

Head: Governor—elected by populace for 4 years.

Members: Comptroller—elected by populace for 4 years.

Treasurer—elected by both houses of General Assembly.
