On motion of Mr. Tome,

The bill was ordered to be printed, and made the order of
the day for Friday, the 25th instant, at one o'clock.

The Chair announced the order of the day, being the re-
solutions to suspend until further action of the Legislature
can be had, the operation of the Act which directs the pay-
ment of bounties to slaves ;

Mr. Compton moved a call of the Senate.

The Sergeant-at-Arms was seat to inform the absent Sena-
tors that their presence was required in the Senate Chamber.

On motion of Mr. Maddox,

Further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.
The question recurring upon the adoption of the report;
It was determined in the affirmative.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates returned the bill en-
titled, an Act to authorize the County Commissioners of Car-
roll county, to levy a sufficient sum of money upon the asses-
sable property of said county, to pay the costs in the case of
the State against Harriet and Marinda Porter;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays."

And delivered the bill entitled, an Act appropriating a
sum of money to pay Daniel R. Magruder, Circuit Judge of
the Second Judicial Circuit, for arrears of salary due him,
and for costs in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel county,
and in the Court of Appeals ;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Commit-
tee on Finance.

Also, delivered the bill entitled, an Act for the relief of the
Grand Lodge of the Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of
Maryland;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Commit-
tee on Finance.

On motion of Mr. Compton,
