William M. Biershing for Justice of the Peace in the 3d
District Washington county, vice John Cook.

Also, the following additional Justices of the Peace, au-
thorized by Acts of Assembly passed at the present session:

Logan O. Smith, 1st District St. Mary's county.

George M. Bohannan, 2d District St. Mary's county.

Joseph F. Morgan, 3d do. do. do.

Mark B. Chunn, 4th do. do. do.

Thomas Harrison, 5th do. do. do.

Andrew M. Garner, 6th do. do. do.

William D. Smith, 1st District Queen Anne's county.

Joel Clements, 2d do. do. do.

Also, Jacob Pouder, of Carroll county, for Judge of the
Orphans' Court of said county, vice Thomas S. Brown, de-
ceased.

On motion by Mr. Bowie,

The Senate advised and consented to said nominations, ex-
cepting that of Thomas E. Talbot, of Queen Anne's county,
as Assistant Inspector of Grain.

On motion by Mr. Earle,

The Senate refused to advise and consent to the nomina-
tion of Thomas E, Talbot as Assistant Inspector of Grain in
Baltimore city.

The following communication, winch had been received
from His Excellency, Governor Swann, was read:

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT^

Annapolis, March 22, 1867.

Gentlemen of the Senate:

I nominate for your advice and consent Hiram G. Dudley,
of Queen Anne's county, for Assistant Inspector of Grain in
Baltimore city, vice Thomas E. Talbot, to whose nomination
your Honorable body has just refused to advise and consent.

On motion by Mr. Earle,
The Senate advised and consented to said nomination

On motion by Mr. Stirling,

The Senate resumed the consideration of the Legislative
