The aforegoing nominations were referred to the Committee

TUESDAY, February 12, 1867.

The following communication, which had been received
from His Excellency, Governor Swann, was read:

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,
Annapolis, February 12, 1867.

Gentlemen of the Senate :

In the list of nominations submitted by me on the 5th in-
stant for the advice and consent of your Honorable Body, the
name of George H. Davis, of Somerset county, for Inspector
and Corder of Firewood in Baltimore city, occurred by a
clerical error; I therefore ask leave to withdraw his nomina-
tion, and to substitute the name of George H. White, of the
same county, in lieu thereof.

I also nominate for your advice and consent Thomas
McCrea, Jr., as Justice of the Peace for the 2d District of
Howard county, vice Edward Harwood, deceased.

On motion by Mr. Stirling,

The foregoing communication was referred to the Com-
