AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

After the word "Mortgage," in the 17th line, add the
words "for purchase money in the hands of the original mort-
gagee, or his executors, administrators and legal representa
tives, in case of the death of the mortagagee," and strikeout
the words "for whatever object or purpose the same may be
executed;"

Which was read and adopted.

Mr. Vickers submitted the following amendment:
And at end of section 2, "and the Bible House and the
Tract House in the city of Baltimore ;

Which was read and adopted.

Mr. Tome submitted the following amendment:

Insert at the end of section 3, "provided the bonds of
other States, held by persons of this State, shall be taxed by
the States issuing said bonds, on the production of the receipt
for said tax having been paid, said bonds shall be exempt
from taxation.

Mr. Tome withdrew the amendment.

Mr. Vickers submitted the following amendment to the
amendment :

Provided that the tax in said States shall equal the tax
levied in this State.

Mr. Vickers withdrew the amendment.

Mr. Stephenson. submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Amend section 3 by inserting after the word "same," in
line 18, the following, viz. : "Provided, that investment made
' in stocks or other securities in the city of Baltimore, by the
inhabitants of the counties of this State, shall not be assessed
by the assessors for said city, but shall be assessed in the
counties in which the holders of such stock or securities may
reside."

Which was read and adopted.

The bill was then read the third time and passed by yeas
and nays as follow :
