WHEREAS, an exhibition of the mineral, botanical
and agriculural products and all the works of
art and science of the world is soon to take place
in the city of Paris, the capital of France, and
the State of Maryland being richly endowed
with these products, therefore,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Governor of the State of Maryland be
and he is hereby authorized to select and appoint
one or more persons as a Commissioner or Commis-
sioners, who may collect and receive all specimens,
samples, models and drawings of all minerals,
coal, ores of iron, copper and zinc, and other
metals, also all varieties of fire clays, kaolins for
fire brick and porcelain, and also all samples of
woods for ship timber, and naval architecture and
stores, and other manufacture, and also all works
of art and science which may be exhibited, accord-
ing to the rules and regulations of the aforesaid
exhibition; provided, that the said service shall
be executed without charge to the State of Mary-
land of any fee or salary, and that such person or
persons shall be acquainted with the French Lan-
guage, enabling him or them to give the fullest
explanations and descriptions of same to the
Judges of the said exhibition.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That his Excellency, the Governor, be and he is
hereby requested to issue a commission in the usual
form to the Honorable Philip Francis Thomas as
Senator, to represent the State in the Congress of
the United States, for the term of six years from
the fourth day of March, eighteen hundred and
sixty-seven. |
