eight hundred and thirteen, eight hundred and
fourteen, eight hundred and fifteen, eight hundred
and sixteen, eight hundred and seventeen, eight
hundred and eighteen, eight hundred and nine-
teen, eight hundred and twenty, eight hundred
and twenty-one, eight hundred and twenty-two,
be and they are hereby re-enacted with amend-
ments, additional sections eight hundred and
twenty-three, eight hundred and twenty-four,
eight hundred and twenty-five and eight hundred
and twenty-six, to read as follows :

Election of
Police Com-
missioners.

SEC. 806. Immediately after the passage of this
Act there shall be elected by the joint meeting of
the two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, three discreet persons, who shall be residents
of the State of Maryland five years preceding the
day of their election, and three years residents in
the City of Baltimore; said three persons shall be
known as the Board of Police Commissioners for
the City of Baltimore. They shall be subject to
removal as hereinafter provided, hold their offices
for four years, and until their respective successors
shall have been appointed and qualified, and shall
each receive a salary of two thousand five hundred
dollars per annum, payable quarterly. Before en-
tering upon the duties of their office of Commis-
sioner, each member thereof shall enter into bond
to the State of Maryland with one or more sure-
ties, in the penalty of ten thousand dollars condi-
tioned for the faithful discharge of his duties as
such Commissioner, said bond to be approved of
by the Judge of the Superior Court of the City of
Baltimore, to be kept and recorded by the Clerk of
the said Court in the office thereof, together with
the certificate of appointment as aforesaid, and
shall also take and subscribe before the said Judge
of the Superior Court, or the Clerk thereof, the
oath or affirmation prescribed by the seventh sec-
tion of the first article of the Constitution of Mary-
land, and the further oath or affirmation that in
every appointment or removal to be by them made
to or from the Police force created and to be orga-
nized by them under this Act, they will in no case
and under no pretext, appoint or remove any po-
liceman or officer of Police, or detective, or any
other person under them, for or on account of the
