twenty-five of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons,
working under charter from the Grand Lodge of
Maryland, and their successors be and they are
hereby incorporated and made a body corporate
and politic by the name and style of Cecil Lodge
number one hundred and twenty-five of Ancient,
Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Mary-
land, and by that name may sue and be sued, im-
plead and be impleaded and have a common seal,
and the same at their pleasure alter, and shall be
entitled to use the powers and privileges incident
to such corporations. |
Authority to
hold real es-
tate. |
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corpora-
tion shall be capable of taking and holding real
and personal estate not exceeding in value the
sum of twenty thousand dollars. |
May make
by-laws. |
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corpo-
ration shall have power to make by-laws for its
government and to alter or amend the same at |
Proviso. |
pleasure; provided, they do not conflict with the
Constitution and Laws of the United States or of
the State of Maryland or the laws of the Grand
Lodge of Maryland. |
Banking pro-
hibited. |
Sec. 4. And be it enacted. That this corporation
shall not be permitted to issue any note, token,
device or scrip or other evidence of debt to be used
as a currency. |
In force and
reservation. |
Sec. 5. And be it enacted. That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage, and con-
tinue in force for fifty years, and that the General
Assembly reserves to itself the right to alter or
amend the same at pleasure. |
