AN ACT to pay certain outstanding debts against
the National Road. |

WHEREAS, the Legislature of Maryland, at their
session in eighteen hundred and fifty-two, passed
a law appropriating twenty-five per cent. of the
tolls of the National Road towards payment of
claims due by the National Road; and whereas,
the principal claim under the law of eighteen hun-
dred and fifty-two, against the National Road,
was held by John T. Edwards, administrator of
John Swann, former Superintendent of the Na-
tional Road; and whereas, the twenty-five per
cent so appropriated has been found insufficient
to pay the principal or even the interest on the
claims against said road, therefore, |
Preamble. |
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General assem-
bly of Maryland, That John T. Edwards, ad-
ministrator of John Swann, shall settle an account
with the Orphans' Court of Allegany County of
the claim allowed to him, as administrator of
John Swann, under the act of eighteen hundred
and fifty-two, chapter one hundred and twenty-
nine, and that said Orphans' Court, after deduct-
ing the twenty-five per cent. received up to this
time by the said John T. Edwards, under the Act
of eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter one
hundred and twenty-nine, shall report to the
Comptroller of the State of Maryland the sum
found due to John T. Edwards, administrator as
aforesaid, said report to be signed and approved by
a majority of the Judges of the Orphans' Court
of Allegany County and certified to by the Regis-
ter of Wills, under the seal of said Court. |
