Sec. 8, And be it enacted. That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage, and that
the General Assembly reserves the right to al-

Martha Boyd, Mary Virginia, Mary Bernard At-
kins, by their petition to this General Assembly,
have set forth that they are the present members
of an association of unmarried colored women
formed in Baltimore city in the year eighteen
hundred and twenty-nine to educate and train to
virtue and industry, colored female children, of the
