Mr. Maddox submitted the following amendment:
"And be it enacted, That no branch of the said Baltimore
and Potomac Railroad more than two miles in length shall be
constructed until the entire Railroad from the city of Balti-
more to the Potomac River shall have been completed in a sub-
stantial manner, and opened for transportation; and for any
violation of this section, the charter of said Baltimore and
Potomac Railroad Company shall be forfeited;"

On motion by Mr. Jump,
The Senate adjourned until 8 o'clock, P. M.
