Company one-third of the State's subscription as
soon as said company shall have contracted for the
building of said bridge, one-third in three mouths
thereafter, and the residue when the said bridge
shall be completed.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Entitled AN ACT to amend an Act passed by the
General Assembly of Maryland, at the January
Session, eighteen hundred and sixty-six, entitled
An Act to incorporate The Maryland Land and
Emigration Company.

Repealed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the second section of an Act
passed by the General Assembly of Maryland at
the January Session, eighteen hundred and sixty-
six, entitled an Act to Incorporate the Maryland
Land and Emigration Company be, and the same

re-enacted.

is hereby repealed; and that section two be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows,
viz:

Purposes and
objects of the
Company.

Sec. 2. The purposes and objects for which the
Maryland Land and Emigration Company afore-
said is incorporated are the purchasing and leasing
of large tracts of land, water power and water
rights in one or more of the counties of the State,
and the same to survey and lay off into smaller
tracts for the purpose of establishing a colony or
colonies of American or foreign born citizens, the
locating or laying off into streets, of a town or
towns ill the vicinity of said colony or colonies,
the beautifying and improving of said town or
towns, by erecting thereon stores, dwellings,
workshops, factories, buildings, bridges, wharves,
piers, mills, furnaces, school houses, churches, and
