of the Comptroller, to pay to Singleton L. Towns-
hend, or order, late collector of taxes of Allegany
county, Maryland, the sum of ninety-seven dol-
lars and fifty-four cents, erroneously paid into the
State Treasury by the said late collector, in the
year eighteen hundred and sixty-five. |

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage. |

Entitled, AN ACT to amend an Act entitled an
Act to incorporate the Safe Deposit Company of
Baltimore. |
Authority to
increase capi-
tal stock. |
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the. General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Safe Deposit Company
of Baltimore, be, and is hereby authorized to in-
crease the capital stock of said Company to an
amount not exceeding five hundred thousand dol-
lars. |
Authority to
purchase and
sell real estate |
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That said Company
be, and it is hereby authorized and empowered, to
hold, purchase and again sell and dispose of real
estate of the value of one hundred thousand dol-
lars. |
May loan
and invest
money. |
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That said Company
be, and is hereby authorized and empowered, to
loan or invest money in, and upon, personal prop-
erty, notes, bills, stock, bonds or securities of any
description. |

Sec. 4. And be it, enacted. That this Act shall
take effect from the clay of its passage. |
