city, next proceeding the election and assessed on
the books of the Assessor with property in said
city to the amount of five hundred dollars, to be
Mayor of the city of Baltimore, to serve for the

term of two years; the term of the office of Mayor
shall commence on the second Wednesday of Feb-
ruary, eighteen hundred and sixty-seven, and on
the same day in every second year there after.

Sec. 7. And the salary of the Mayor first elected
under the provisions of the law hereby enacted
shall be three thousand dollars, and thereafter lie
shall receive such salary as shall have been provi-
ded by ordinance previous to his election.

Sec. 15. An election for Members of the first
Branch shall be held on the first Wednesday of
February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
seven, and on the same day in. every year thereaf-
ter and shall be held by wards, and no person
shall be entitled, to vote for any but the members
for the ward of which he shall be a resident.

Sec. 16. An election for Members of the second
Branch shall be held on the first Wednesday of
February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
seven, and on the same day in every second year
thereafter.

Sec. 20. The City Council shall meet on the
third Wednesday in the Month of March, eighteen
hundred and sixty-seven, and on the same day in
every year thereafter, and the number of days of
their sitting in any one year shall not exceed nine-
ty, but the Mayor may summon them to convene
whenever and as often as it may appear to him
that the public service may require their delibera-
tions, two-thirds of each Branch shall be a quorum
to do business, but a smaller number may adjourn
from day to day.
