AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners
of Dorchester county to aid in the completion of
the Dorchester and Delaware Rail Road. |

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the County Commissioners of
Dorchester county be and they are hereby autho-
rized and empowered in their discretion to sub-
scribe for the capital stock of the Dorchester and
Delaware Rail Road Company, to any extent they
may think necessary to construct and complete the
said Rail Road, not exceeding in the whole the sum
of fifty thousand dollars and in payment thereof,
to issue on the credit of the said county, and de-
liver to the said Company, at their par value, their
bonds redeemable in twenty years from the date
thereof, bearing interest at the rate of six per cent-
um per annum payable half yearly, and the faith
and property of the said county are hereby pledg-
ed for the payment and redemption of the princi- |

pal and interest of the said bonds; provided, no
part of the bonds issued by virtue of this Act shall
be used or hypothecated by the President and Di-
rectors of said Road or any one of them until the
whole line of the Road is put under contract, with
a reasonable prospect of its completion from when
it taps the Delaware Road to Cambridge. |

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said bonds
when issued, shall not be liable to taxation for
county purposes. |
