40 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 14,

2nd of chapter sixty-six of January Session, 1866, and re-en-
act the same with amendments ;

Which was read the first time, and ordered to be printed.
The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 14, 1867.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received your message proposing a Joint Com-
mittee consisting of the Committees on Printing of both
branches of the General Assembly, to whom shall be referred
the report of the Comptroller, in compliance with an order
requiring certain information upon the subject of the system
of contract printing, and we concur therein.

By order,

W. R. COLE,

Clerk.

Also, returned the bill entitled, an Act for the relief of
John Welsh, a surety on the bond of John Barnard, a former
Sheriff of Allegany county;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays."

Also, delivered the following bills:

A bill entitled an Act, to authorize the School Commission-
ers of Calvert county, to sell certain Bank Stock held by them
for the benefit of the Public Schools of said county, and to ap-
ply the proceeds to educational purposes in said county ;

Which was read the first time, and

Referred to the Committee on Education.

A bill entitled an Act, to repeal the seventy-fourth section
of the thirty-fifth Article of the Code of Public General Laws,
relating to the election of the United States Senator, by in-
serting in 3rd line, after the word "Senator" the following
words" "and to enact another provision in lieu thereof ;"

Which was read the first time, and

Referred to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings.

A bill entitled an Act, to provide for the speedy hearing by
the Court of Appeals of the case of School Commissioners of
Baltimore city, versus the State Board of Education ;

Which was read the first time, and

Referred to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings.

The bill entitled an Act, to protect Fish and Wild Fowl in
the waters of Romney creek, in Harford county;

Was read the second time, and
On motion of Mr. Earle, was
