Speaker of (he House of Delegates of Maryland:
Sir:—In accordance with an order of the Honorable, the
House of Delegates, passed January 18th, 1867, and commu-
nicated to me by the chief clerk of said body, requesting the
clerks of the several counties of the State to report to the
House on or before the 1st day of February, ensuing the
number of days of each term of said courts respectively, be-
tween the 1st day of January, 1866, and the 31st day of De-
cember of the same year, &c. I have the honor to report
that at
December Term, 1865, from January 1st, 1866, 40
March Term, 1866, - - - - 48
May Term, 1866, - - - 36
August Term, 1866, 44
December Term, 1866, to December 31st, 1866, 18

It may be well to explain to your Honorable Body the rea-
son why five terms of court are included in the above report,
it being as follows:
The December Term of 1865, being only about half through
at the date from which this enquiry is contemplated, and
again, the December Term, 1866, being about half through
or eighteen days of the term held when the date of the en-
quiry ceases, so that although the report has the appearance
of five terms, when they are really only three full terms and
two parts of terms.
In testimony whereof, I hereto set my hand and affix, the
seal of the Circuit Court for Baltimore county, on this 23d
day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-seven.
