2d Question. When did you register ?

Answer. In September, 1866, in District No. 10.

3rd Question. Did you attend the election held in District
No. 10, Allegany county, Maryland, November 6,1866; did
you offer to vote; was your vote accepted or refused, and whose
names were on your ticket as candidates for House of Dele-
gates?

Answer. I attended the said election; did not offer to vote,
because others, like myself, could not vote, and I thought
mine would not be taken. The names of the parties on my
ticket as candidates for the House of Delegates were Wil-
liam Devecmon, Wm. A. Bryden, John McElfish, Patrick
Hammil and George W. McCulloh.

Cross-examined by Mr. Brown.

1st Question. Were you afraid of any guns ?
(Excepted to.)

Answer. I was not. I never tried to be registered in 1865,
because I did not approve of the way things were going on.

Deposition No. 44.

GEORGE MORSER, being duly sworn deposed and said as fol-
lows, to wit:

By Mr. Devecmon :
1st Question. What is your name, age, residence and occu-
pation ?

Answer. My name is George Morser. age 70, live in Dis-
trict No. 10, Allegany county Maryland; and am a farmer.

2d Question. When did you register ?
Answer. In September, 1866, in District No. 10.

3d Question. Did you attend the election held in District
No. 10, Allegany county, Maryland, November 6, 1866; did
you offer to vote; was your vote refused or accepted, and
whose names were on your ticket as candidates for the House
of Delegates ?

Answer. I attended the election held November 6, 1866, in
Allegany county, Maryland; offered to vote, but the Judges
refused it because I would not takean oath they offered me. The
names of the parties on my ticket as candidates for the House
of Delegates were William Devecmon, William A. Bryden,
George W. McCulloh, Patrick Hammil and John McElfish.
