Deposition No 30.

ALEXANDER FAIRALL; being duly sworn, deposed and said as
follows to-wit:

By Mr. Devecmon:

1st Question.—What is your name, age, occupation and
residence ?

Answer. My name is Alexander Fairall, age 36, live in
District No. 1. Allegany county, Md., and by occupation a
Postmaster.

2nd Question. When did you register ?
Answer. In September, 1866, in District No. 1.

3d Question. Did you attend the election held in District
No. 1, Allegany county, Md., on Nov. 6th, 1866, did you
offer to vote, was your vote accepted or refused, and whose
names were on your ticket as Candidates for the House of
Delegates ?

Answer. I attended said election; offered to vote, but the
Judges refused my vote saying I was challenged; they did not
tell me who challenged me, and would not tell me; the names
on my ticket as candidates for House of Delegates, were
William A. Bryden, William Devecmon, John EcElfish
George W. McCulloh and Patrick Hammill; I refused to take
the oath and answer the questions which the Judges wished
to ask me, having taken the oath before the Register; Mr.
Friend one of the Judges said he had my name on a paper,
and asked me to come in, take the oath and answer the ques-
tions, which I declined to do; the election was held in a dif-
ferent place from where it had been formerly held; the last
election was held at Altamont; in 1865, at Wilson's Store, I
think; I did not register in 1865, because I considered it a
humbug.

JACOB Gower, being duly sworn, deposed and said as fol-
lows, to wit:

By Mr. Devecmon :

1st Question. What is your name, age, residence and occu-
pation ?

Answer. My name is Jacob Gower, age 46, reside in Dist.
No. 10, in Allegany county, Md., a farmer by occupation.
2nd Question. When did you register?
Answer. In September 11, 1866, in District No. 10.

3d Question. Did you attend the election held in District
No. 10, in Allegany county, Md., November 6, 1866; did you
