1104 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 22,

Act making appropriations for the support of the Government
for the year ending on the first day of January, 1869;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays with proposed amend-
ments.

The amendments concurred in and non-concurred in by the
House were, together with the bill returned to the Senate,
along with the following message:

By THE HOUSE OF DEEEGATES,

March 22, 1867.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received from your Honorable Body, House bill
entitled, an Act making appropriations for the support of the
Government for the year ending, on the first day of January,
1869, with proposed amendments. We have concurred in
amendments marked Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 12, and non-concurred
in those marked Nos. 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13. We
respectfully request you to recede from said amendments.

By THE SENATE,

March 22, 1867-
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your communication in response to the
action of the Legislature of Virginia, suggesting the appoint-
ment of Joint Committees of the two Houses of the Legisla-
tures ol Virginia and Maryland, to settle and adjust the
boundary line between the two States on the Eastern Shore
of the Chesapeake Bay, and respectfully concur therein.
We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Mr. Waters.

Also, returned the joint resolutions in relation to purchas-
ing a Government mansion,
Pending the consideration of which,

Mr. Ford moved their reference to the Committee on Ways
and Means;

Which was decided in the negative.

Mr. Ford moved that the House do now take a recess until
5 1/2 o'clock this P. M.

Mr. Phelps moved that the House take a recess until 7 1/2
o'clock, P. M.;

On motion of Mr. Thompson,
