954 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 16,

Mr. Williams, from the Committee on Ways and Means,
reported back the bill entitled, an Act to provide for the re-
lief of the suffering inhabitants of the Southern States, with
proposed substitute,

Which was concurred in and informally postponed, and
made the order of the day for Tuesday next, March 19th, at
one o'clock P. M.

On motion of Mr. Neilson,

The bill in relation to the Sunday law was made the order
of the day for Monday, March 18th, at one o'clock P. M.
On motion of Mr. Bishop,

The bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Hancock and
Pennsylvania Railroad Company was made the order of the
day for Monday, March 18th, at two o'clock.

Mr. Williams, from the Committee on Ways and Means,
reported back the bill entitled, an Act to provide for the
enaction of a new Maryland State Penitentiary, and to dispose
of thepresentMd. State Penitentiary, with proposed substitute;

The bill and substitute were made the order of the day
for Monday next, March 18th, at two o'clock, P. M.

On motion of ilr. Nicolai,

The House took up for consideration the bill entitled, an
Act to incorporate the Baltimore and Hall's Springs Railway
Company, with proposed Senate amendments ;

The amendments were concurred in, and the bill, as
amended, passed by yeas and nays as follow :
