The House took up for consideration the bill entitled, an
Act supplementary to an Act entitled, an Act to provide for
the general valuation and assessment of property in this State,
passed at the Extra session of the General Assembly in the
year 1866, chapter 157 ;

Said bill being upon a second reading.

Pending which,

Mr. Magruder proposed the following amendment :

Section 2, in line 17, a'fter the word "hand" insert "the
books of all persons engaged in the exercise of any legitimate
profession now recognized by the laws of Maryland, and ne-
cessary for the prosecution thereof;''

Which was rejected.

Mr. Thomas proposed the following amendment:

Which was adopted.
