AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

In line 13 of section 5 to come in after the word "day" in-
sert the following:

Provided, That their number shall not at any time in any
one of the warehouses, exceed 16 in number, and provided
also, that no Inspector shall employ a permanent back gang
or screwmen, during the months of January and February,
but the Inspector or inspectors may call in as necessity may
require, (and not unless,) laborers to dispose of the work as
it accrues during the said two months.

Mr. Appleman moved the prevous question.

Which was sustained.

The question then being,

"Shall the previous question be now put ?"

It was sustained.

The" question then recurring upon the amendment pro-
posed by Mr. Magruder;

It was rejected.

Mr. Boswell proposed the following amendment:

Line 12, strikeout "two dollars," and insert "two dollars
and fity cents per day.

Line 13, strike out "one fifty," and insert "two dollars;"

Which was adopted.

The time having arrived for taking up the Order of the
Day,

The House took up for consideration,

The bill entitled, an. Act to incorporate the Elkton and
Delaware Railroad Junction Railroad Company;

Said bill being; upon its second reading,

The question being upon the amendment proposed by Mr.
Neale;

It was withdrawn.

Mr. Evans proposed the following amendment:

Section 11, line 6, after the word "or" insert the words
"not more than three-fourths of a mile from;"

which was adopted.

Mr. Evans proposed the following amendment:

Section 11, line 14, after the word "timber," insert "said
timber not to be condemned if off the line of said railroad;"

Which was adopted.

Also, the following amendment:

Section 14, line 4, strike out the words "or any imple-
ments;"
