Said bill was then sent to the Senate.

Mr. Gorsuch presented the petition of John W. Birely and
75 other citizens of Frederick county, asking for the estab-
lishment of a State Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb, at
Frederick city;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Dennis presented the petition of J. F. McOomas and
43 others against the repeal of the Funeral Law ;

Also, the petition of W. H. Hoffman and 40 others.,
against the repeal of the Sunday Law ;

Which were read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Jones presented the petition of citizens of Frederick
Election District in Frederick county, for an Act to provide
an additional place of voting in said county ;

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Jones, Steiner and
Gorsueh.

On motion of Mr. Steiner,

Leave was granted the Committee on Ways and Means to
introduce a bill to appropriate a sum of money to erect a
monument over the remains of the late Francis S. Key, Esq.,
the author of the "Star Spangled Banner ;"

On motion of Mr. Thomas,

Leave was granted the Dorchester, Talbot and Caroline
County delegations to report a bill entitled, an Act to autho-
rize the payment to the Maryland and Delaware Railroad
Company and to the Dorchester and Delaware Railroad Com-
pany the sum of $13,000, heretofore applied to the Choptank
and Mispillibn Railroad Company by the Act of I860, chap-
ter 303 ;

On motion of Mr. Hall,

Leave was granted the Anne Arundel and Calvert county
delegations to introduce a bill to change the name of Single-
ton Mercer Owens to Singleton Mercer Foggett;

On motion of Mr. Whitaker,
Leave was granted the Cecil County delegation to introduce
