Mr. Williams proposed the following amendment;

After the word Treasury in the second line of section 2,
add "and by the Clerk of the Circuit Court in which the ap-
plicant for a license resides.

Which was adopted.

The bill as amended was then read a second time and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Kerr,

The bill entitled, an Act to protect the citizens of Talbot
and Dorchester counties, from depredation committed by
persons engaged in dredging for oysters in the waters of this
State;

Was taken up for consideration and recommitted to the
Dorchester and Talbot delegations.

Mr. Baker moved to take up for consideration the order
offered by him endorsing a vote of Hon. Reverdy Johnson;

Which was decided in the negative.

The bill entitled, an Act to assist in supplying the Public
Schools of the State with a perfect map of Maryland, which
was reported unfavorably from the Committee on Ways and
Means.

Being under consideration,

On motion of Mr. Carmichael,
Was informally postponed.

On motion of Mr. Baker,

The bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Maryland In-
stitute for the education of the Deaf and Dumb;

Was taken up for consideration, and

Recommitted to the Committee on Ways and Means.

The bill entitled, an Act to repeal the 38th, 39th and
40th sections of Article 56 of the Code of Public General
Laws, entitled, "Licenses," and to re-enact the same with
amendments;

Being upon its second reading,

Mr. Stevens proposed the following amendment:

Section 37, line 4, strike out the words "agricultural pro-
ducts and;"
Which was rejected.
Mr. Steveni proposed the following amendment:

Section 38, line 3, insert after the word "permanent," the
word "temporary;"
Which was rejected.

Mr. Evans proposed the following amendment:
