Amend title by striking out the word "repeal" in first line
and insert "amend and re-enact."

Said bill was then returned to the Senate.

The bill entitled, an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
purchase copies of a digest of the decisions containing the
statutes of Maryland, of which the Code of Public General
Laws is composed with references to the Acts of Assembly by
Lewis Mayor and to regulate the distribution of the same;

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 398, 399, 400,
401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, 407, 408 and 409, of the Code
of Public Local Laws entitled, "Guano;"

Being on its second reading;

Mr. Stevens moved to postpone informally :

Which was not sustained.

Mr. Nicolai proposed the following amendment:

Add at end of section 1. "Provided, That all Guano other
than Peruvian, shall be subject to the same inspection as now
exists.

Pending the consideration of which,
Mr. Neilson moved the previous question;
Which was sustained.
The question then being,
"Shall the previous question be now put ?''
It was sustained.

The question then recurring upon the amendment proposed
by Mr. Nicolai;
It wag rejected by yeas and nays as follow :
