600 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 27,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
report a bill to be entitled, an Act in relation to the sale of
the real estate of James D. Wild, deceased, late of the State
of Delaware.

Mr. Appleman, (the rules being considered as further sus-
pended,) offered the following :

Ordered, That a leave of absence be granted to as many
members of this House as may desire to attend the Radical
Convention now in session in Baltimore city.

Mr. Steiner moved to lay the order on the table;
Which was not sustained.

Mr. Neilson proposed the following amendment:

"And that the Chairman of the Committee on Claims be
instructed to pay their entire per diem, and that they be
excused from further attending during the remainder of the
session."

Mr. Aydelott moved to lay the amendment on the table;
Which was decided in the negative.

Mr. Gorsuch proposed the following amendment to the
amendment:

"That it is unbecoming the representatives of a free people
to be adopting orders and motions of this character."

Mr. Ford demanded the previous question.

Mr. Steiner moved to lay the amendment on the table.

On motion of Mr. Hoffhine,
The House took a recess until 8 o'clock this P. M.

WEDNESDAY, Feb. 27, , 8 P. M.

The House met.
