The bill entitled, an Act to add a section to Article 75 of
the Code of Public General Laws, entitled, pleadings, prac-
tice and process, to enable parties to plead over without with-
drawing their demurrers;

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

On motion of Mr. McCulloh, (the rules being suspen-
ded;)

Leave was granted the Committee on Corporations to re-
port a bill to incorporate the Wharf Transportation and In-
surance Company of Allegany county;

On motion of Mr. Brydou, (the rules being further sus-
pended.)

Leave was granted the Allegany delegation to report a bill
to incorporate the North Branch Company;

Mr. McCulloh, (the rules being yet further suspended.)

Presented the petition of 28 citizens of Allegany county,
praying the Legislature to grant a pension to Benjamin Kir-
by of said county, a soldier of the war of 1812;

Which was read and refered to Committee on Pensions.
Mr. Evans, (the rules being yet further suspended,)

From Committee on the Judiciary, reported favorably a
bill entitled, an Act .to amend and re-enact sections 7 and 8
of Article 29 of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to
the appointment and compensation of assistant counsel;

Mr. Appleman, from Select Committee reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act to Incorporate Oakspring Lodge No.
9, of the Independent Order of Good Templars, Hagerstown,
Washington county;

Which were severally read a first time.

The bill entitled, an Act to provide for the liquidation and
settlement of arrearages of pay due to the officers and men of
the Police Force appointed and organized under the Act of
1860, chapter 7;

Being upon its second reading,

Mr. Neilson proposed the following amendment:

Line 2, fill blank with name of Edward D. Kemp, and
P. S. More;

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Lankford,
The vote by which the amendment was adopted,
Was reconsidered; when
